ADOS-2: November 14 - 16th 2022
The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment instrument that allows us to accurately assess and diagnose autism and pervasive developmental disorders in individuals suspected of having autism. The ADOS-2 consists of various activities that provide interesting, standard contexts in which interaction can occur, thus allowing for observation of social and communicative behavior. The ADOS-2 can be used with individuals across ages, developmental levels, and language skills.
In 2012, the ADOS-2, which is a revision of the ADOS with updated protocols and a new Toddler Module, was published through Western Psychological Services (WPS). Individuals who participate in both of these workshops will be trained in the updated ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) and the Toddler Module.
Participants must be registered for, or have previously completed, an ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) Clinical Workshop prior to registering for the ADOS-2 (Toddler Module) Workshop.
The Sunfield Center ADOS-2 Introductory Clinical Workshops are designed for professionals with a prior background in autism and formal testing, including psychologists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and professionals and graduate students in related fields.
During the first two days of training, participants will be introduced to the administration and scoring of the ADOS-2 Modules 1-4. On the third day, participants will be introduced to the administration and scoring of the ADOS-2 Toddler Module. Learning objectives include: observe administration of ADOS-2, recognize red flags for behaviors that are indicative of a diagnosis of autism, discuss and practice coding of the ADOS-2, practice scoring and coding using the algorithm to determine autism classification, select different modules appropriate for use with individuals of different ages and language levels, and develop assessment skills to evaluate individuals to rule out autism.
Trainers will be providing the workshop through a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, videos, scoring discussions, and live administration of the instrument.
To participate fully in the training, trainees must purchase the ADOS-2 Manual and ADOS-2 Protocol booklets. This is a live online training and will not be recorded. Trainees must be logged into the meeting for the duration of the training to receive certificates of completion.
