Supplemental Autism Measures

CE Hours 1

About this Workshop

In this training presentation, clinicians, teachers, and primary care providers will learn about supplemental measures that can be used to screen for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and supplement gold-standard measures (i.e., the ADOS-2 and ADI-R) within the context of a comprehensive autism evaluation. Those who participate in this workshop will learn about statistics that are used to assess the efficacy of psychological measures (e.g., sensitivity, specificity, etc.). The training will review the pros and cons of the most commonly used supplemental measures based off of research on their effectiveness. Lastly, the presentation will provide provider- and age-specific recommendations for clinicians, teachers, and primary care providers working with individuals across the lifespan.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify measures to use for screening and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder that supplement gold-standard assessment measures.
  • Describe pros and cons of utilizing commonly used measures.
  • Identify recommendations for which measures are best to use in different contexts.
